The Vrátna Valley is one of the most beautiful corners of Slovakia. Its main tourist center is Vrátna – Chleb, where you’ll find a modern cable car that comfortably takes you right below the main ridge of the Malá Fatra mountains. If you want to enjoy breathtaking views without a long climb, the cable car is the perfect choice.
Technical details
Lower station: Vrátna – Chleb (740 m a.s.l.)
Upper station: Snilovské sedlo (1,494 m a.s.l.)
Elevation gain: more than 750 meters
Route length: approx. 2 km
Capacity: 8-seat cabins
The modern gondola cable car was built in 2006 and is among the most advanced of its kind in Slovakia.
What awaits you at the top?
The ride takes you directly into the heart of the Malá Fatra:
stunning views of the entire ridge, Terchová, and in good weather even the Tatra Mountains,
quick access to hikes to Veľký Kriváň (1,709 m a.s.l.), Pekelník, or across Chleb to other parts of the ridge,
in winter, direct entry into the Vrátna Free Time Zone ski resort.
Winter and summer
In winter, the cable car is the main attraction for skiers and snowboarders, giving access to the most challenging slopes in Vrátna.
In summer and autumn, it’s used by hikers who want to shorten their way to the ridge and enjoy beautiful views without a steep climb.
Practical information
The cable car runs daily (seasonally, with summer and winter schedules).
Tickets can be purchased on-site or online.
At the upper station, you’ll also find a small snack bar and a rest area.
During your stay at Apartment Adventourist, make sure to plan a trip with the Vrátna cable car. Whether you want to set out on a ridge hike or simply enjoy the panorama, it’s an experience that shows you the beauty of the Malá Fatra from a whole new perspective.
